Staying Cool at the Pool

We have hit the pool almost everyday this summer.
Turns out these boys LOVE the water.

As I've said before, beside the fact that I must wear a swimsuit (must stop going to Baskin Robbins) I love it too! It really gets some of their energy out and since it has been in the triple digits, it is a great way to stay cool! It's win-win-win.

31 flavors?

Michael spotted the Baskin Robbins coupons that came in the mail and he MADE me take him and Jesse to get some ice cream. Yummy! Who needs 31 flavors? Jesse always gets chocolate and Michael loves sherbert!

Haircuts with Grandpa

Grandpa treated the boys to haircuts and lunch at McDonald's today. They just look like little men when they get their haircut. Just so handsome. You can see their eyes and the sideburns are not looking like the 1970's. It was not that long ago that every time we went to get a haircut there were tears a flowin', but now they just hop up in the chair and get it done. I came really close to buzzing them, like daddy, but all the grandmas said NO, ABSOLUTELY NO! Maybe next summer??

awake

It is the middle of the night and I can't sleep. That never, NEVER happens to me. I guess I have been up now for about 2 hours and I am pretty much wide awake. I know that I will be sorry in the morning when the kids are up and running around and I will be exhausted. I should be doing homework or something. Maybe I will read, that usually works. Seriously, look down there at the time. It is 4:21 AM. I swear. I went to bed at 9:45 which is quite normal for me any night, even Friday night. But I was up at 2:22 and here I am--blogging. Crazy! Okay, I really should at least lay down and try to get some sleep. Good Night!

Lunch Date

We FINALLY went to have lunch with Tita today. We just don't get to see enough of this sweet lady. Look at those smiles. They just love her so much! I enjoy our visits too. Although they are usually, okay always, too short.

These are a few of my favorite pics from the day--UT Tower, Turtles & Lily Pad Flower at the Turtle pond on campus.

A Party & A Play

The party--yesterday afternoon at Kiddie Acres for Kami's 3rd Birthday. It was a great birthday party with lot of rides, hot dogs, cake, ice cream, and presents. I can't believe she is already 3, such a big girl.

The boys had a blast. It was something new. Jesse had been once before on a field trip, but Michael and I had never been. I'd have pictures of them if my camera had been working, but I had to use the back up -film- camera and those won't be developed for at least a week or so. (i'll save the camera stuff for another post).

**********************************************************************************

The play--Beauty and the Beast at Zilker Hillside Theater. Phillip, Jesse and I had a date last night. It was my 3rd required play for my drama class, but I think we might just make this a yearly tradition. They have done a play every summer now for 50 years!

I wasn't sure how Jesse would do sitting out watching the play for so long, but we had some coloring books and toys to keep him busy when he got bored. Phillip did well too. Michael spent the night for the very first time with Oma and he did wonderfully.

We didn't make it home until after midnight so we decided to take it slow this morning. That is way, way past my bedtime. Also, no pictures for this because as I said, my silly camera was out of service.

Gymnastics

Big Day. Big Day.

Got the call on Wednesday that not one, but two spots opened up in the Saturday morning, preschool gymnastics class!

Yippee!

They were on a waiting list, but it was only for about a month, thank goodness. These boys have so much energy and were in desperate need of some kind of outlet. I was thinking karate or soccer or t-ball, but Jesse wanted to do gymnastics. So there you go. Michael wanted gymnastics because his big brother did.

It is a small class, only three other little girls and them. The parents get to watch and wave and give the thumbs up through the glass window. Ms. Lauren was their teacher and she said it would take a few weeks for the boys to settle in. I am so excited for them. They were so excited and cute!

Eventually I will get some pictures of them in action. Until then, our homework is to work on cartwheels and forward rolls. (When is the last time you did a cartwheel? I know I would break something if i tried to do one now.)

SummerFest 2008

To wrap up a week of Backyard Bible Clubs and Xtreme Adventure, our church held its annual SummerFest. It is a community street party with games, music, food, and fun.

Phillip usually has to work and misses all the fun, but he had the day off so he was able to attend with us this year. He was amazed at how many people were there. Here is my sweetie enjoying some popcorn.

The boys had a blast. They loved the jumpies and the cupcake walk. Last year we walked around and around and never won a cupcake. This year, they both got lucky!

The Red Balloon

Tonight my mother and I went to see The RED Balloon. It was wonderful. If you are not familiar with the story, let me tell you it has no dialogue, none. The actors and the live musicians bring the story to life and no words are needed. The set was great, the actors were great, the music was great. It was so cleaver and creative. Go see it! I promise you won't be disappointed.

The director just happens to be my drama professor. That's right, I said drama professor. Don't even get me started. I am so NOT interested in pursuing an acting career. It is required for my degree. Therefore, I am taking it this summer to get it over with. I am not crazy about it, but it is a small class and the professor is cool. It is hard work and most stressful memorizing lines.

I have made it through a duet, my partner and I did a scene from The Glass Menagerie, and a 3 minute monologue from a play called 'Night, Mother. I have my final next week-2 contrasting monologues. I will be so very, very glad when this class is over.

One good thing about my drama class is that my professor required us to go see 3 plays during our 9 week class. I can not even remember the last time I went to a play, it has been so long. This requirement has helped me realize that there are many community theaters in our area performing a variety of different plays. I need to get out and enjoy some of them. I'm thinking at least every 3 to 6 months or so.

FOURTH of JULY

God Bless America

The boys had a Red, White & Blue parade at school on the 3rd with hats, flags, and noise makers they made for the occasion. We spent the morning at the Round Rock parade. Then we spent the evening at our neighborhood park celebrating with food, fun and fireworks. The finale was at our house--the boys had to do a couple of sparklers. It was a day to celebrate, be thankful for all our many blessings, and remember the men and women that are serving our country and fighting for our freedom!

Bye Bye Sippy Cups

I did it! I finally decided to get rid of all the sippy cups at our house. I'm following in Tina's footsteps. I have been thinking about doing this since she cleaned out her cabinets back in February. The problem, ya see, is that we have had this bad habit of taking a sippy cup with apple juice (watered down) to bed with us. I know, I know, I should have never started that, but you know what they say about hindsight. Hopefully it will be easy to break the habit. It must be done. So long sippys!

Georgia

This is Georgia

She is my neighbor's 8 week old black lab and my boys absolutely LOVE her. And she loves them. Every evening, no matter what, Michael insists that we go see and play Georgia. They haven't asked for a puppy of their own....yet. I'm not ready for a puppy. They are not ready for a puppy. So, until we are ready we will continue to enjoy playing with Georgia.
