Ice Day?

It was almost the ice storm of 2009. Around here we look forward to ice days. It becomes an opportunity to have an extra day off. Although many teachers and students must make up the day, some folks get lucky. It looked promising last night and early, early this morning, but it never quite made it below freezing, at least not long enough to really freeze anything. By 8:00 this morning the sun was shining and it was warming up. I snapped this picture before the icicles melted away.....

NO CAVITIES

Today was a big day for the boys.....their first trip to the DENTIST. They are 3 & 5 and I hate to admit it, but they have never been to the dentist. Fortunately, they have NO CAVITIES!! I wasn't sure how they would react, in fact, I was probably more nervous than them, but they did great! They actually like to brush and floss, so the dentist said their teeth looked awesome and Jesse even had x-rays.

Mexican Food & Margaritas

I was able to get out of the house last night to have dinner with these lovely ladies. These ladies are super special and I really look forward to getting together with them as much as I can. It is not as easy as it was when we all lived across the street and in the same neighborhood. I sure do miss that. Those were great times! We are all busy with kiddos and work, but hopefully we will continue to find time to have dinner once in a while! I am so blessed to have such great friends that make me laugh.

Just look at those beautiful smiles! I love you pretty ladies!

Minus 4

It has been 2 weeks since I started the biggest loser at the Y. I wasn't sure I was going to make it after the 1st workout. The pain was just ugh, but I survived. It has actually been so much fun. Don't get me wrong, the workouts are still intense, but I've made some new friends and I am feeling better=more energy. It is definitely the motivation I needed. Anyways, the good news is I have lost 4 pounds and a few inches in my chest and waist.

**I forgot to mention part of the challenge was to give up something for 6 weeks. I chose to do without flour tortillas. I LOVE flour tortillas and that is why they had to go.**

In other news.....

I started school yesterday. Another 15 hours, so it is going to be a busy, busy, busy semester. I'm not so motivated about school this semester, but I am almost done. Only 7 weeks until Spring Break!

PAIN

OH.MY.GOODNESS.

The PAIN.....I'M SO SORE.

I can't even walk. It was an incredible workout yesterday. I worked muscles that haven't been used in many, many years and some I didn't even know I had. Seriously, my legs are unbelievably sore. It really is quite funny to see me moving around the house. I have to hold on to things to sit down and get up and I have to move very s-l-o-w. The last time I hurt this bad was after I tried out for the basketball team in 8th grade. Coach P. worked us so hard; every muscle in my body felt ached for days. It was so worth it though, I made the team! There is one night I remember well, after tryouts, I rode the bus home and it dropped me off right in front of my house. As I got off the bus I could already feel my muscles stiffening and I could barely cross the street, it hurt to walk. I went straight to take a hot, hot bath. Ahhh! I did the same thing last night AND this morning. I'm sure there'll be more in the days ahead.

I am pumped and ready for Tuesday!

The Biggest Loser

I decided that I needed a little motivation (butt kickin') to get busy with exercising. So not only did I join the Y, I also signed up for their version of the biggest loser. For the next 6 weeks, every Tuesday and Thursday morning for an hour and a half, I will be pushed to do way, way more than my body can probably handle, but I am totally up for it.

Today was the initial weigh in, measurements, timed mile and jumping jacks and push ups. The workout begins Thursday!!

New Direction

HAPPY NEW YEAR ~~2009~~

Wow, time flies with these little guys! I can't believe 2008 has come and gone. It was an awesome year. God blessed us in so many ways this past year and I know He has great things planned for 2009!

I have resolved to accomplish a few things this year.

There is the usual drop a few (dozen) pounds, the "I just had a baby" excuse does NOT cut it anymore. He is 3 for goodness sake.

This year I also want strengthen my relationship with the Lord. Through prayer and meditation, by honoring and serving Him. I am going to commit to Beth Moore's scripture memory challenge and the Loaves of Love ministry at my church.

A few other things I'd like to do in 2009--learn to play the piano, learn how to crochet and/or sew, run a 5K (or 2 or 3), drink only 1 soda a day, get organized, and of course, spend more time with family and friends.

A new New Years Eve tradition? So, we usually stay home and celebrate with these two little guys. This year I decided we should do something different, so we made a pizza! Believe it or not, we have never made a pizza together before. They had so much fun. I think this year I will put them to work and make them my little kitchen helpers. Here they are adding the topping and their masterpiece hot out of the oven!
